Turn videos and documents into interactive language practice

Build a learning prototype that adapts supplied material into exercises for a learner’s current level.

5 implementation stepsAdvanced

How this works

Build a learning prototype that adapts supplied material into exercises for a learner’s current level. Use this to turn permitted videos or documents into a small language-learning prototype. Exercises should match the learner's level and the source meaning, with checked answers and feedback rather than unchecked generated quizzes.

Extract the available material, select a limited set of language objectives and create varied practice using its vocabulary and ideas. Keep original passages linked to exercises, distinguish transcription uncertainty and have a teacher review level and correctness. The prototype supports practice rather than formal certification.

Before you start

Permitted source material

Confirm access and allowed reuse of the supplied text or transcript.

Learner profile

Obtain current level, learning goal and preferred practice format.

Teacher review

Identify a qualified reviewer for language accuracy and answer keys.

Prepare the inputs

source_material
Required

text or timestamped transcript

Record missing sections and uncertain transcription.

learning_goal
Required

language, level and target skills

Do not infer proficiency from age or identity.

exercise_format
Required

flashcards, gap fills, dialogue or comprehension

Choose formats suited to the stated goal.

answer_rules
Required

accepted answers and feedback criteria

Allow valid variants where language permits them.

Implementation, step by step

  1. Prepare the source

    • Extract readable text and retain passage or timestamp references.
    • Exclude uncertain or incomplete passages from answer-critical items.

Checkpoint: The usable material is identified.

  2. Select learning objectives

    • Choose a small set of vocabulary, grammar or comprehension goals.
    • Keep difficulty consistent with the learner's stated level.

Checkpoint: The lesson has a focused purpose.

  3. Draft exercises

    • Create varied questions and practice prompts grounded in the selected material.
    • Avoid copying excessive source passages and do not introduce unsupported factual content.

Checkpoint: A coherent exercise set exists.

  4. Check answers and feedback

    • Verify correct answers, acceptable variants and explanations with a teacher.
    • Use feedback that explains the language point rather than merely marking failure.

Checkpoint: The practice content is reviewed.

  5. Prototype and test

    • Build the simplest available interactive or file-based lesson.
    • Test navigation, answer handling and readability with a teacher and learner.

Checkpoint: The prototype is usable within its declared scope.

Decisions along the way

Transcript is incomplete

Use only the available segment and label coverage.

Several answers are valid

List acceptable variants or use teacher review instead of rigid rejection.

Exercise is too advanced

Simplify the language task without changing the source meaning.

What you will produce

language-practice-set.json

JSON

A reviewed exercise bank.

Include: objective · prompt · source_ref · answers · feedback · level

lesson-prototype

Interactive page or document

A bounded learner-facing practice experience.

Include: sequence · practice · feedback · limitations

Check the result

  • Verify exercises preserve the source meaning.
  • Check answer keys and valid alternatives.
  • Confirm level and instructions match the learner's goal.
  • Test incorrect, empty and alternative answers in the prototype.

When something goes wrong

AI invents a fact absent from the source

Remove or separately source it before use.

Answer checker rejects valid wording

Expand accepted forms or route to human feedback.

Media extraction fails

Use a supplied transcript or a text-only lesson rather than claim full-video analysis.

A worked example

SYNTHETIC EXAMPLE · NOT A REPORTED BUSINESS RESULT

Request

Synthetic: create beginner practice from a short workplace dialogue.

Inputs

Source says a meeting starts at nine and the speaker will bring a report. Goal is future arrangements; one transcript phrase is unreadable.

Expected result

Synthetic result: create checked questions about the meeting time and report, omit the unreadable phrase, and accept equivalent simple wording where appropriate.

Run a small pilot

Start small

Use one short source and a small set of exercises.

Record the baseline

Record preparation time, answer-key corrections and learner confusion.

Agree success criteria

Agree language accuracy and usability criteria before adding more lessons.

Stop or revise

Stop learner use of any item with unresolved answer or source ambiguity.

Keep the scope clear

  • Practice material is educational and does not certify proficiency.
  • Use source material only within its permitted access and reuse scope.

Check before using

Check language accuracy, source permissions and whether exercises match the intended level.

Business activities

  • Build and change software
  • Deliver courses and training

When you share a company website, the guide may read a limited number of public pages on that website. Messages and retrieved page text are sent to our AI provider, NVIDIA, to recommend relevant workflows. Share a general description rather than confidential information.

Saved workflows and selected activities stay in this browser. Your chat history and selected company website are kept in this tab and cleared when you reload or start a new chat. The server does not store conversations. Live source monitoring is not enabled.

If you allow analytics, PostHog receives page views and actions such as workflow saves, skill downloads and link clicks. Random browser and session identifiers connect these actions without identifying you by name. Your choice and browser identifier expire after 90 days; sessions restart after 30 minutes of inactivity or 24 hours. We use local storage, not analytics cookies. Messages, company URLs, search text, full referrers and IP addresses are not sent. There are no person profiles or session recordings.
